Categories, not verdicts. Nothing here has been bought, packed or shipped by us — each entry links to a search so you can read the current listing yourself.
Read the destination's own published rules before you read this list. A dorm, a military address, a hospital unit and a correctional facility each allow different things, and the destination decides, not the sender.

Sealed, individually wrapped and unbothered by a week in transit. Check the destination's rules first: some campus mailrooms discard perishables, and military mail publishes per-ZIP restrictions on food.

Shelf-stable, portioned, and made with hot water and nothing else. No pan, no measuring and no washing up afterward.

Unscented on purpose: shared rooms and hospital units frequently restrict fragrance. Liquids and creams have their own mailing rules on volume and packaging, so check the listed size before you pack it.

Small, unscented and hard to get wrong. It also survives a mailbox in a way that anything with cocoa butter in it does not.

Labeled fragrance-free rather than unscented, which are not the same claim: cosmetic labeling rules let a whole fragrance blend appear on the ingredient list as a single word.

The cheapest thing in the box and the part most likely to be kept. Blank rather than printed, because what you write is the gift and nothing you buy will say it better.

The note is the part still in a drawer a year later. Plain paper beats a printed sentiment, because what you write is the gift.

One size, so there is no sizing decision, and it goes on without pulling anything over the head. Check the fiber content, which the label is required to state.

A straw lid works without lifting or tipping the bottle, and a large one means fewer trips to the kitchen. Check the listed capacity and whether the lid opens one-handed.

The outlet is never next to the chair. A long cable is the difference between a phone within reach and a phone across the room.

Every bottle, jar and powder in the box goes in its own sealed bag. USPS packaging rules for liquids over four ounces are stricter than most senders expect, and a bag is the cheapest insurance in the parcel.

USPS asks for two-inch-wide tape on every seam, and asks you not to wrap a box in string or twine, which snags in the sorting equipment. Tape the seams and keep the ribbon inside.

Flat-rate boxes still carry a 70-pound ceiling, and everything else is priced by weight. Weighing at the kitchen table beats discovering the number at the counter.
